Let's Talk Briefly
Is autism a disease or something that needs to be cured?
No, autism is not a disease, it’s a different way of experiencing and processing the world.
“Different, not less.” Autism is a lifelong neurodevelopmental difference, not something to be “fixed.” At Blossom, we focus on support, understanding, and helping each person thrive with their unique strengths.
What causes autism, is it spiritual, a curse, or a punishment?
Autism is not a curse, punishment, or spiritual fault.
While its exact causes are still being studied, research shows it involves genetics and brain development—not anything someone did wrong. At Blossom, we work to replace fear with facts, offering support and compassion without stigma.
How Different are Autistic People?
Autistic people only respond differently, not that it’s an abnormal response. They may take a while to perform an act, but it doesn’t mean they’re slow or incapable. Autistic people present differently because it is a spectrum, not a clear-cut disorder.
Let’s embrace them, support them and show them that life is worth it. BridgeAutismWellness is here to walk the journey with you. From assessment , counselling sessions or even offering supportive products to further improve the quality of life for both families and the people on the spectrum.
Together, we can change the narrative around Autism not only in Uganda but Worldwide.
Can autistic individuals live full and successful lives?
Absolutely. Many autistic individuals live deeply meaningful lives, build careers, families, and contribute richly to society.
Dr. Stephen Shore, who is autistic himself, teaches that with the right supports and understanding, possibilities are endless. Blossom helps families see potential, not limitation.
Is there one way autism shows up in everyone?
No, autism is a spectrum.
As Dr. Prossy Nakanwagi says, “If you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.” Some individuals may need more support; others live independently. Blossom provides holistic wellness paths tailored to every journey.
How can I or my community help support autistic individuals and families?
Start by learning, listening, and letting go of harmful myths.
Support can be as simple as attending workshops, being patient, advocating in your community, or partnering with organizations like Blossom Spectrum Wellness. We believe that inclusion starts with one informed, compassionate person, you.
